Brendan Santi and Kristin Livesay have become regulars to Vibe’s “Vibe Laughs” every other Wednesday. And this week they brought in their posse and all enjoyed some laughs. Everybody is doing live music on the North Shore, but Vibe is mixing it up a bit by adding some comic relief into your life as well. Next show is April 3rd. Doesn’t matter….they were having a good time and so was everyone else at Vibe last night. It didn’t matter that it was a nasty cold night in February. We were all having lots of fun inside!!!!
This time our research took us to the best damn tailgate in the U.S…and that’s saying a lot ’cause I’m a Green Bay Packer fan and everyone knows those cheeseheads can party. (is cheesehead one word or 2??) We were in SEC country for the Alabama/LSU game. It didn’t matter that we were in a gravel parking lot surrounded by houses on wheels, we were eating like Kings. Char-grilled oysters, crab legs, head on shrimp, fried shrimp (just like Vibe’s) and crawfish étouffée. Lucky I was wearing my fat jeans. The only thing we were missing was a good cocktail. I’m not much for bourbon and was craving one of Vibe’s “Skinny Margaritas”. Johnny got a little jealous when I took this pic with Mike the Tiger, but I put him back in a good mood by feeding him a giant crab leg.
Matt Feddermann and Danny Shaffer, two locals who sound as good as anyone on the radio. Feddermann has created a sound reminiscent of Tom Petty, The Beatles and Rhett Miller. His lyrics are based on his own life experiences that deal with real life subject matter like fatherhood, love, birth and death. His originals are as good as the covers he plays. Ask him to play my favorite Feddermann original “Sour Man”.
“The Lion and the Bear” previously called “Waterstreet Band” were just at the House Blues April 28th and they’re at Vibe tonight. Ya, you know we get great music at Vibe and many Vibe-raters think this duo is our most talented. They play songs from the Yardbirds, the Kinks, Led Zeppelin and even Radiohead with acoustic guitars. They love Vibe’s food and our crowd, which keeps them comin’ to Highland Park. Make your reservation online now!!
Really looking forward to having these guys back. Shady Grady & the Nobodies blend funk, blues & rock for a really unique sound that caught my interest right away. Listen for yourself and then make plans for dinner and live music at Vibe on Saturday night. There’s a reason they call us the “City Vibe Without the Drive”.
Its Tuesday night. Time for dinner and drinks at Vibe and great music from not just one band, but lots of bands. That’s what the jam is…many singers, many guitarists, many drummers all showin’ their stuff on one stage…Vibe’s stage.
